Eight Hours of Timers

Eight hours of timers, fleets and fights everywhere.  This video is just a small sample of the chaos of Sunday the 17th of January 2021.

Some of our guys were fighting, some were toasting, we'd have alliance members come online as they woke up, we'd update them on the current situation.

Calling it a fluid situation would be a huge understatement.

It was awesome.

Unsurprisingly, I didn't learn from past mistakes, and I make some new ones!

Great.

QPTT-F Fortizar Defense

Our local system Fortizar defense, was a great fight.

One of the advantages of recording the fights and viewing them later, again and again, is the ability to learn from the multitude of mistakes I make and improve in subsequent fights.

If only I did.

Eve Time Alternative

As logging into the Eve Online servers is quite hit and miss at the moment I decided to try something else.

From time to time I play some War Thunder.  I'm not good at it, but sometimes I'll have a good game.

This time I recorded it.

Here is my story.

Chung! Chung!

Google Account Restored

Surprisingly, very surprisingly, the YouTube account has been restored just as it was before.

I'm quite amazed to be honest.

I fully expected that absolutely nothing would happen, I'd just have to pick up the pieces as best I could and then move on.

Now the account is back I've taken measures to make sure I can rebuild in the future, on YouTube or elsewhere, with much greater ease than before.

Almost gives one a twitch of enjoyment.

Since it's all working again I might as well link the video that most likely caused all the drama.

Here is my 2019 year in review, delayed thanks to CCP, Google, YouTube, and Procrastination.

With new audio just in case.

The Not So Hidden Intel

EDIT:  As of about mid October 2019 this issue has been fixed.  From memory this isn't the first time it's been corrected but I cannot remember exactly when.

GTX 1050Ti Pre and Post Sept 2019 Update in The Abyss

Wow that title just rolls of the tongue doesn't it?

As promised, here is the video comparing The Abyss from before and after the recent September 2019 update.

I've not been sure if it's "the Abyss" or "The Abyss".

I feel "The Abyss" gives it more gravitas.

I've done some cropping to remove the UI from either side, which means we don't have it all squished up this time.

Don't say I didn't put in the minimal amount of effort for you guys.

GTX650 vs GTX 1050Ti in The Abyss

As I had a couple of Abyss videos from before the recent graphical update, and they also cover my recent interim upgrade from the hard working GTX650 to the GTX1050Ti, I might as well record them for posterity for all to gaze at their wonder.

Given the huge upgrade even a low level card like the 1050Ti made, I'm kicking myself it wasn't done sooner.

The 1050Ti will not be in the main PC for long, in the new year, once the RTX "craze" and Christmas have calmed down it will be updated and then relegated into one of the Linux PC's.

Most likely the one that also runs Eve Online from time to time.

In the next few days I'll run another Abyss site so I can compare the 1050Ti pre and post the September 2019 update, as some important graphics changes have been made.

Of course I'll post the comparison video on this blog for my legions of viewers to salivate over.

Talking about you Frank.

Avoiding the Gank

A small quick video to try and help some folks in avoiding the dreaded gank at a trade hub, using Amarr as an example.

L0G0F Video Collection

As time passes our alliance has created a small amount of videos about our adventures in Eve Online.

At some stage we created a Youtube channel to bring these videos together for the enjoyment of some.

Many, but certainly not all, have been created by me.

Here they are.

An Annoyance Dies!

The other day, week, etc, we stumbled across a local guy who enjoyed killing some of the locals.

We were finishing up some scheduled PVP, our scout entered a system and noticed this guy in local, we set the trap, and you'll see the outcome below.

An Alliance Typical Mining Operation

Recently I've discovered the joy, and the work, of creating videos.  I started trying to use a freeware video editor called Openshot.  Openshot is adequate but seems buggy for me, crashed often. Finally I bit the bullet and bought Adobe's Premiere Pro, which is awesome.

This video shows a "typical" mining operation.

You'll get the idea.

An Eos Kill!

During a camping session we killed a few things, and then this guy decided to try his luck.

Auto piloting.

Into low security space.

With his only protection being some warp core stabs.

It didn't end well.

However I was able to make a video out of it!

Enjoy!

Dust Off That Joystick

It seems the 2013 Fanfest has caused an avalanche of news, so here it is!

The Oculus Rift is gaining some traction, so a few devs in their spare time decided to create a game using the Eve Online tools, it is called EVR.  It is not for general release, it may never be, it should be, we need this!

Penny Arcade also believe DUST514 will change Eve Online forever.

"Soon the two worlds will be linked through their complex economies, as well as the in-game bonuses that are shared between EVE Online and DUST by controlling planets. Players in EVE Online will be able to directly fund their forces on the ground using cash they earned in space. "

Finally we have the keynote speech, also from the 2013 Fanfest.  Some interesting stuff, nothing really ground breaking but I hope the changes to mining will break the bots, at least for a while.

Am I excited about Odyssey?  Yes I am as it forces changes which will shake up the universe somewhat.  However the better organised groups, Goons etc, will adapt quickly if not universally due to their size, but they, and I mean all large groups here, can buy their way into the new regime.

What I hear often is the lament about botting.  I've been adding botters to my contact list for ages and to be honest most of them no longer login, which is fantastic.  With luck the mining changes will stop their mining bots dead in their tracks, but software being software I suspect it will just slow them down at best.

The Amarr Shuttle T3

Well this is a bit weird, it appears to be a fan video made using textures and sounds from Eve Online.

At first I thought it was an April Fools video from CCP themselves, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

The graphics and combat sequences are pretty good, I would like to see him do some more, but perhaps keeping it more true to the game.

Anyway, enjoy!

Fanfest #2 - Dust514 Soldiers Forever!

From Fanfest 2012 CCP have released a video that seems to introduce the soldiers for DUST514 as well as the implants they require to persist.

Enjoy!

Approaching the Truth

A new video for Eve Online was released yesterday and apart from over selling the action a little bit it is by far and away the most truthful promo video released by CCP in recent times.

Enjoy!

DUST514, SONY and You

Some more game play footage from DUST514 is now available from the Sony Playstation web site here.

Once you manage to swallow the rising bile from the overly gushing and frankly quite bloody annoying presenter a small amount of DUST514 game play is shown alongside other games and news.

A Spring release date is mentioned, so sometime towards the end of June 2012 is expected, as has been for a while.

The action looks fast and frantic which is fantastic as this was my main worry.

I'd almost convinced myself that CCP were going to use the graphics system from the aborted Eve Online Captains Quarters for DUST514, thankfully this short demo once again reminds me this isn't the case.

While I will not be playing DUST514, I look forward to its impact on New Eden in Eve Online and hope that CCP have done a good job with this integration initially, and are not hoping to catch up as the weeks and months drag on after the DUST514 release.

We can only hope.
