Google Account Restored

Surprisingly, very surprisingly, the YouTube account has been restored just as it was before.

I'm quite amazed to be honest.

I fully expected that absolutely nothing would happen, I'd just have to pick up the pieces as best I could and then move on.

Now the account is back I've taken measures to make sure I can rebuild in the future, on YouTube or elsewhere, with much greater ease than before.

Almost gives one a twitch of enjoyment.

Since it's all working again I might as well link the video that most likely caused all the drama.

Here is my 2019 year in review, delayed thanks to CCP, Google, YouTube, and Procrastination.

With new audio just in case.

Google Account Suspended

I'd posted my Eve Online 2019 video in review to one of my YouTube accounts, hadn't yet linked it anywhere, but I did notice I'd already received a copyright violation for what I assume was the music?

Thanks CCP?

I'd left it there for a few days doing not very much, and then started noticing in Tweetfleet folks were talking about accounts being banned, seemingly for posting the 2019 Year in Review Eve Online video.

At that stage my account was still working.

I then deleted the video, made a new one with some royalty free music, and uploaded the new version.

A few hours later and I can no longer access that account.

Thanks Google?

I've sent a request to review whatever decision seems to have caused this, but I don't hold out much hope.

I suppose I should start figuring out what else was attached to that account.

Annoying.

No Account Issues

For those of you keeping track, roughly once a year when my account is up for renewal, CCP screw it up somehow and I'm then handed some extra out of game time while they fix the issue.

Here is the post from last year.

However this year they managed to get it right.

Well done.

Dusting the Potential Account Issues

The DUST514 closed beta sign up is now finally with us, more information and a link to the sign up page can be found here.

Also a couple of interviews have been made with CCP about Eve Online, DUST514 and World of Darkness.  The interviews are fairly light on information and very little new information has been released but one educated guess has been confirmed.

DUST514 will be playable at Fanfest 2012!

That will be very interesting as for the first time we'll hear from actual gamers about DUST514.

I hope CCP have it working properly for the sake of everybody.

Some other news regards the updating of the Eve Online web site, this will be a multi stage process and seems geared more towards helping new players understand the game and what it can offer, rather than the grizzled veterans grousing about a 0.25 second delay in activating some module that only three other guys in the game use.

It's also that time of the year when my Eve Online game play account is due for renewal.  For some reason this was a drama last time and it would seem we are heading towards the same problem this time.  Anticipating some issue I started contacting CCP about the possible impending situation more than a week ago via the petition system.  I was then asked to contact somebody else, fair enough, but after two emails I'm still waiting for a reply.

On the plus side I've recently bought a Kindle, so I'll be better catered for entertainment wise should I have forced downtime.

Day Four of CCP Disabled Account - Working!

On the fourth day the account was enabled, some switch was flicked and I can once again login.

Outstanding.

Obviously the account should have never been disabled in the first place, but then having to wait four days is not good enough.

Apart from an apology for the delay I've received no information as to the nature of the problem.

Businesses are about customer relations, often you can hide a sub standard product or service with good customer service, at least for a while.

While my account is now working I'm not happy, CCP's response time and information transfer between them and the customer needs to improve, at the very least for critical items like major account issues.

I don't like bitching about a problem without suggesting an improvement so one way to help the communication issue is a queue notifier.  An automatic email from CCP that is sent daily which reports on my petition in the queue would help avoid the creeping feeling of abandonment that can happen while waiting (at the time) an unknown amount of days until the issue is resolved.

My Two Cents.

Day Three of CCP Disabled Account

Day three of the CCP imposed exile from Eve Online.

My training has now finished so the account is earning no ISK and training nothing.

Updated the petition with no further information as I have none, this all came from nowhere.  Asked a question as to why this is taking the time it is.

The reader figures have changed, most of you are now coming from the Eve Online official blog page.

Ironic.

Day Two of CCP Disabled Account

As the title suggests this is day number two of no account due to it being disabled by CCP.

No reason has been given or further information has been provided.

I have been invited to submit more information via the petition I have submitted but apart from saying my account is still disabled I have nothing else.

Given this all happened only a day or two after being added to the official blog list I cannot expect this is going to help the PR exercise much.

So we wait.

Disabled, Shipping and Blog Recognised

I've had some discussions with CCP recently, the result is the addition to the CCP fansite page of this blog, right down the very bottom of the page since it's organised alphabetically.

I'm quite happy about that, although a nagging thought suggests I should have named the blog Aarons Aardvark Adventures but that's far too late now.

Unfortunately with this change they have somehow buggered up my account and I cannot login, it says the account is disabled even though the better part of a year remains of subscription time.

With luck they'll fix the issue soon or this blog could become rather vague as the months pass by with no game time to report on.

So we move onto the Eve Online store, especially the freight charges.

I like the products in the online store, a good variety and some day I would like to buy something.  However as I'll explain this will not be happening in the short term.

I was looking at a mug, in particular the one known as EVE Mug: Safe Return which sells for $19.99 US dollars, an image is below:

The mug starts black and as heat is added the image is revealed, awesome!

What I am not prepared to do is buy a $101.50 US mug as the shipping (to Australia) is a $81.51 part of the transaction which is insane!

Which is a shame as the store has heaps of cool stuff which I cannot justify due almost entirely to the freight charges.
