The Delayed Opt-In Paradox

CCP are introducing, what they call, a delayed local chat system into null security space.  The bumf suggests this will be temporary as the "stress" on the yada yada yada.

Null security local chat is changing.

However they continue to misrepresent what it actually is, an opt-in system, not a delayed one.

The crutch of many a sports guest speaker, with thanks to the Cambridge Dictionary lets look at the definitions of the two terms.

Seems straightforward.  Happily, they could have also used the term "retardation", which seems appropriate for null sec.

Moving on,  the definition of opt-in.

Clearly the change to null security local chat, as described by CCP, means you will not appear in local until you choose too.  Obviously this is opt-in and not delayed.

I support the local chat change, but at least call a duck a duck.
